Area of Practice: Marriage & Family Therapy, Adolescent and Children, Anger Management, Anxiety and depression, Crisis Intervention, Management Issues, Spiritual Issues

David serves in two capacities for Veridian. He is both the clinical director and a psychotherapist.

His academic background includes:

  • 1976 - University of Iowa, B.A.
  • 1979 - Asbury Theological Seminary, M.Div.
  • 1985 - Kansas State University, M.S., Marriage and Family Therapy

After pastoring in a church fulltime, David returned to school and upon completion began to work at one of the predecessors of Veridian, the Counseling and Growth Center. In his initial years he was involved in a consultation role with SRS for the initial implementation of Family Preservation to the State of Kansas.

David describes his approach in therapy as a blend of systems theory, cognitive-behavioral and insight therapies. His approach is typically pragmatic, solution-focused and helps individuals, couples, families and employers reach more satisfying answers to the issues they are facing. His theological training encourages him to think compassionately and allows for him to understand a variety of spiritual issues from most faith traditions. In addition, 30 years of experience working with people from all stratas of life (maybe not the Bill Gates-level) allows him to work with people from all walks of life.

For fun, David enjoys photography, computer graphics, golf, watching football and basketball, hiking, reading and traveling. He also enjoys serving in a local church. He is now approaching the joy of parenting from the level of a grandparent which brings a new level of entertainment to his life.
